Do It Now. Do It Right Fucking Now.

And, other lessons from the founder of Lululemon, Chip Wilson.

In a recent episode of The Tim Ferriss Show, host, Tim Ferris, asked Chip Wilson, founder and former CEO of Lululemon, if he had one message to write on a metaphorical billboard for everyone in the world to read, what would that message be?

It didn’t take long for Chip to fire back with a response.

“Do it now. Do it right fucking now.” is the response that Chip gave Tim. They both laughed. I chuckled too.

Such a blunt phrase. One that hits you right in the gut.

It’s a phrase that I’m slowly adopting. With each decision I make for myself, it gets easier to live the sentiment that Chip feels so strongly about.

At 28 years old, I've spent much of my life living based off of the expectations of others. For so long, I was heavily influenced by the opinion of the people around me that I forgot to listen to the things I want out of life. Until, finally, I realized that I was going to live a long, miserable life riding atop a wave of opinions and perspectives that aren’t mine.

Tomorrow is my first day of work outside of the senior living industry in my entire life. I’m anxious. I’m optimistic. I’m grateful for the awareness to understand what a privilege it is to chase my dreams.

I’m ready to walk through the front door of the interior design world and soak it in for all it has to offer.

After all, there’s no time like the present to seize the day.
